The duties of Private Duty Nurses include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Adequate medical assessment of the patient
- Collaborating with other healthcare providers such as dietitians or private physicians
- Day-to-day patient interaction
- Change dressings, bandages, and contraptions
- Diet supervision and monitoring
- Self-care assistance
- Dental care
- Bathing needs
- Other personal care (proper hygiene)
- Providing motion exercises
- Supervise assertive plans to prevent bed sores, contractures, and muscle wasting
- Treatments and remedies for emergency alterations
- Documentation of patient condition to be reported to the family and physician
- Maintain optimum health and well-being
